Oil on Canvas , 12x16, © 2007 Karin H. Leonard ~~~ On a glorious spring day, I was painting with a group of artists at Whaler's Cove. Deep in the painter's trance, one of my artist friends tapped me on the shoulder saying "did you see the whales?'" I was so focussed on the scene that I had discarded the spouts in the water as surf. Then I realized a group of Gray Whales with their babies had sought shelter in the cove, probably to hide from hunting orcas. What grand place to paint we have been blessed with! ~~~ |
