Oil on Canvas , 11x14, available © 2007 Karin H. Leonard ~~~ Golden California light, Flooding summer afternoons. Silver fertile waters, Cradling life's abundance. ~~~ This painting stems from a recent adventure at Elkhorn Slough, steeped in glorious summer afternoon light. Elkhorn Slough close to Moss Landing, California, is one of the precious few wetlands left in our state. Providing a nutrient rich mix of fresh and salt waters this beautiful nature preserve is home to an abundance of animal life such as egrets, herons, sea otters, seals and countless fish. If you haven't been there -- ever or recently -- take an invigorating hike, stroll along the eco-friendly boardwalks, or kayak the luminous waters. |
